Happy New Year my fellow Ibarakians! It is time to look back at my Ibaraki Eats adventures from this year and choose which ones really stood out. I will continue the tradition with the same categories as last year:

Best Event

Most Fun Place

Best Sweets

Biggest Surprise

Without further ado, let's get to it.

Best Event: Burger Baka

It was difficult to go to any events this year because the corona virus was still raging and 90% of events were cancelled. One event that I did go to was the fantastic Burger Baka event in Naka city. Love burgers? Then you have to go to this event next year. This event is a burger utopia for all burger lovers and all the vendors dish out amazing burgers for you to try.

Most Fun Place: 8 Cafe

Naka city really delivered this year. Burger Baka in the summer and an amazing experience for Halloween. Stepping into 8 Cafe during Halloween felt like stepping into the Haunted Mansion from Disney. All the decorations were awesome and the Halloween themed food was delightful. I can't remember how many eye balls I ate that night.

Best Sweets: La Riviere de Sable

I can't tell you how many hours I debated with myself for this category. I ate so many delicious sweets this year. Amazing pancakes, a huge roll cake, fantastic parfaits. But only one can take this title and that would be Tsukuba's own La Riviere de Sable. I still dream about that heart shaped cake and how creamy and amazing it was. My wife loves this place and was estatic it won Best Sweets.

Biggest Surprise: To Mecca

This was another category which was tough to decide. Hitachi's Cameo Cafe's pulled pork sandwich was a deliciously fantastic surprise. Mito's Mosh's burger and milk shake stole my heart. But what really knocked me on my feet was To Mecca's Mexican tacos and burritos. I never thought I would find such an amazing burrito in Ibaraki, but I did and it was everything I wanted and more.

I highly recommend visiting all the places that won this year. They are all great places for a wonderful lunch or dinner.

Well, that is it for 2021. I hope my fellow Ibarakians had a great year and I hope that everyone has an amazing 2022. I want to thank you, for sticking with me through these Ibaraki Eats adventures. I promise to keep talking about my delicious adventures throughout Ibaraki. Enjoy the holidays! Speaking of holidays, Ibaraki Eats will be taking a three week holiday. The next post will be on January 28th.

The Ibaraki Eats Duo wishes you nothing but the best for the new year. Happy New Year!
