I have talked about a few different pizza places before here on Ibaraki Eats, but I have never talked about a traveling pizza place before. More and more masters of the pizza art are getting food trucks and traveling around Ibaraki with their pizza oven. Today, I am going to talk about one traveling pizza place from Village Market Tsukuba that never disappoints. That traveling pizza place is Mr. Goodman.
MR. GOODMAN
Mr. Goodman is a delicious pizza traveler who dishes out amazing pizzas at different locations. I have seen them quite a few times at the Village Market, and every time I do, I can't wait to get my hands on some of their delicious pies. It is run by a friendly couple that are always busy making excellent pizzas. One thing that impressed me about Mr. Goodman was that all their ingredients are local. All the vegetables, and ingredients they use are grown here in Ibaraki. He does sometime use other vegetables from different prefectures near Ibaraki, but I believe it is mostly Ibaraki produce. That is why their pizzas taste so fresh and delicious.
Mr. Goodman doesn't run his pizza kitchen out of a food truck per say, but he has a nice little food stall that is ready to receive customers.
Nice Oven
Mr. Goodman has their pizza oven at the back of their tent and I honestly love it. It has that look that it has been around for a while and has cooked thousands of pizzas in its time.
The Menu
There are always three pizzas on the menu at Mr. Goodman. One is margarita pizza, the other is quattro cheese pizza, and the last pizza is the most interesting in my opinion. I can't really tell you what it is, because it changes. One month it was a tomato sauce based pizza with mozzarella and eggs, the next month it was a cheese pizza with no tomato sauce and broccoli (I think) and clams.
Mr. Goodman also has drinks and ball donuts as well.
Quattro Cheese Pizza
Mozzarella, parmesan, Gouda, gorgonzola, and honey. The building blocks of a quattro cheese formmagio pizza. This pizza is a cheese paradise and I have always loved ordering it at different restaurants. I am glad to report that Mr. Goodman makes an excellent quattro cheese pizza. The four cheeses mixed with honey is a heavenly mixture of sweet and salty. The crust is divine. Not too crispy but not too soft. A perfect balance. I loved the four cheese pizza from Mr. Goodman and would love to order it again.
Stick Señor with clams and cream sauce
This is one of the special pizzas I was talking about earlier. I have no idea what stick señor is, but I am guessing it refers to the vegetables. It was like a long broccoli. There were also small pieces of clam and cream sauce that were delicious. I know it sounds like a weird mix but it works. It really does. I loved this pizza and would like to have another. In fact, I am drooling just thinking about that pizza while I write this post. The cream sauce and the crust went really well together, and the melty mozzarella cheese with the stick señor was amazing. Another winner from Mr. Goodman.
Mr. Goodman's pizzas are phenomenal and I highly recommend trying them if you see Mr. Goodman selling pizzas at any event near you. They are usually at Village Market Tsukuba or the Tsukubanominoichi market.
So if you are in the mood for some amazing pizza and find yourself looking at a food stall with a awesome looking pizza oven, why not give Mr. Goodman a chance. Who knows, you might see me there, ordering the new pizza of the month with gleeful excitement.
Enjoy!
