Hello everyone! And a special welcome to all my fellow Ibarakians! So, what is Ibaraki Eats? For our non-Ibarakians, Ibaraki is a prefecture in Japan that is in the Kanto region and is located north of Tokyo.
Ibaraki prefecture is a big prefecture and it is mainly agricultural. Most of what you eat in Tokyo is grown here. Especially natto.
Natto is fermented soy beans. They are sticky and smell like a gym sock that hasn't been washed in a week. But I love it, especially for breakfast. Mix it in with some rice or make a natto omelet and it is delicious.
Anyway, as I was saying, everything is grown here so the food is delicious and fresh. I have been living in Ibaraki for 10 years and visiting many places and restaurants. I have been giving recommendations to foreigners and Japanese people alike on what is good and what restaurant to go to. What surprised me was that some of the Japanese residents in Ibaraki told me I was pretty knowledgeable and knew a lot of good places. They all said the same thing, "ブログ作って" which translates to "write a blog."
So I decided to make Ibaraki Eats. Now, I want to say that this is a first for me. I have never written a blog and I kind of don't know what I am doing. But since we are all stuck at home at the moment. I thought that I should give it a shot. Plus, I want to support these restaurants during this pandemic. A lot of these places are hurting and I want to do my part to help them out.
Ibaraki Eats will not only be about Japanese restaurants in Ibaraki. I will also be talking about American, Italian, Mexcian and many other kinds of restaurants. I have been to some really good places around Ibaraki and I really want to share it with all of you. So I hope you enjoy the blog and I hope you can try all the places I will be talking about in this blog. Enjoy!
