Burger Month has begun! Sorry that it is a little late this year. I usually do this during summer, but this year we kick off Burger Month in November. So get ready to check out some of Ibaraki's tastiest burgers to keep you warm during winter.
The first post of Burger Month is a place where you can chill out and enjoy a delicious burger. That place is Laid Back Burger.
Laid Back Burger
Laid Back Burger is in the Azuma area of Tsukuba. I believe this burger place is close to the space center. It is a lot easier to walk and ride a bike to Laid Back Burger, but there is a pay to park parking lot near by.
I decided to grab a burger for lunch here on a hot day in August. Unfortunately, my wife was not able to join this time but I hope I can bring her some other time.
Inside
Laid Back Burger isn't a big place. I believe it can fit up to 15 people max. The whole inside of the restaurant is surrounded by wood. Wood floors, wood chairs, wood tables. Wood everywhere! This place is called Laid Back Burger so there was chill music playing in the burger place and it had a very relaxed atmosphere.
The Menu
Great news my fellow Ibarakians! The menu is in both Japanese and English! The menu has around 13 different types of burgers to choose from. Want extra toppings on your burger? No problem. Laid Back Burger will oblige.
Avocado Cheese Burger
That day, I wanted to give the Avocado Cheese Burger a try. I waited for my burger to come and when it did, I was quite happy with the attractive looking burger that was placed in front of me. The burger was well stacked and looked delicious. It came with wedge fries and a small piece of a pickle. I grabbed my burger and took a big bite. The melted cheese mixed with the equally melty like avocado with the beef patty was heavenly. The lettuce was fresh and the buns were great. I really liked this burger. I was also surprised that the burger didn't fall apart half way through. It kind of reminded me of Hi-5 Burgers. The buns and meat were pretty close to Hi-5 quality but not quite there. I wonder if the owner of Laid Back ever worked at Hi-5. Either way, I really enjoyed my burger and wouldn't mind coming back for more.
Laid Back Burger was a nice lunch break during my busy day. The burger was delicious and I hope I can bring my wife to try the burgers real soon. I think I will go for the chilly beans burger next time.
So if you are craving a burger and are near the space center in Tsukuba, why not give Laid Back Burger a chance? Who knows, you might see me there, sitting at a booth with my wife while we share our delicious burgers with each other.
Enjoy!

Event Announcement
Hitachinaka Coffee Festival
The events don't stop in Ibaraki! Today is the Tsuchiura Fireworks Tournament and next week is the Hitachinaka Coffee Festival! I heard this is the first time Hitachinaka city has thrown a coffee event. The event is next Sunday at Shinsuisei Chuo Park. The park is a five minute walk from Katsuta station. The event will also be showing a movie on an outside theater screen, but I believe you need to buy a ticket for that. So be ready to try different blends of coffee and some delicious food cars. Bring your family, friends, or pets.
Hope to see you there!
