Welcome back to Burger Month! I am excited to talk about all the great burger places I recently visited. Today, I want to talk about one place that captured my heart. Not just the burgers, but the entire menu and the place itself. I am going to talk about Mosh Under the Diners Stand in Mito.

Mosh Under the Diners Stand
That is quite a mouthful huh. I am just going to call it Mosh for the rest of this blog post. Mosh is located in Kasaharacho area in Mito. You might get a little lost trying to get there since it is not near Mito Station or any main streets so be sure to use your GPS. There is a parking lot in front of the restaurant which should fit five cars.

Nice Place
Walking into Mosh was a very interesting experience. The first thing I heard was punk rock music and this music would be playing for the rest of the time the wife and I were in there. The restaurant had a punk rock diner feel to it. The tables and chairs looked dinerish but everything on the walls were all about America and rock music.

The Menu
Is Mosh just a burger place? No. It is an American restaurant with some Tex Mex. I saw burritos, loco moco, pizza, sandwiches, burgers, and a lot more dishes in the menu than I thought I would. Then I saw a burger that caught my eye. The Stadium Burger. Wait a minute, I had this burger at To Mecca not too long ago. Another thing was that Mosh's burritos looked similar to To Mecca's burritos. I asked the staff about this and apparently both owners are friends and share dishes between the two restaurants. That was quite surprising.

The Shakes
The wife was checking out the drinks menu and then she stopped, looked at me and said "shakes!" She loves shakes, so we were definitely getting one. Mosh has three different shakes: vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate. The wife went with vanilla. I on the other hand, was having a beer.

Chocolate Beer!?
You read that right, chocolate flavored beer. Mosh actually has a fantastic beer menu. I saw watermelon flavored beers, different IPAs, different ales, there is a beer for everyone. There is also American beer like Pat's Blue Ribbon but I stuck with my Rogue Chocolate Beer. How was that chocolate beer, you are probably asking. Amazing! Simply amazing! Try it. Go to Mosh and order that beer. The chocolate flavor with those beer bubbles make you feel that all is right in the world. It is a great feeling.

Vanilla Shake
When the vanilla shake graced our table with all it's elegance, the wife awed with visible adoration. She grabbed the straw and immediately took a sip. Her face described her experience more than words can. She was in pure shake bliss. I gave it a try myself. The vanilla ice cream was not bad but what really got me was the cream on top. Where do they get that magnificent cream from!? Do they have a cream goddess making it in the back? It was fantastic. So thick and creamy. It was a great shake, a bit expensive, but great.

Chili Cheese Fries
We decided to have an appetizer before our main meal. The chili cheese fries came pipping hot to our table and we were excited. I took one fork full of fries, because grabbing would have lead to burned skin, and tried some. The chili really surprised me. It was delicious with the right amount of spice to it. I am not sure if I agree with the negi on top but it really doesn't hurt the dish. It was a nice start to what was coming next.

Chili Dog with Cheese
If I had known the chef was going to come and pour the melted cheese onto the hot dog, I would have taken a movie. But alas, I was just as shocked about this as the wife was and didn't make it in time. I was in a cheezy trance as that beautiful looking melted cheese hit the wife's chili dog. When the chef was done, the chili dog was completely covered in cheese. The wife took the first bite and closed her eyes in awe. It was my turn. I bit into that chili cheese dog and almost didn't give it back to the wife. By the hot dog gods, this most be one of the best chili cheese dogs I have ever had in Japan. The chili was good, not too spicy with just a little kick. Everything in this chili cheese dog was perfect and I am sure I will order this amazing chili cheese dog again in the future.

The Mosh Burger
Finally, we come to what this post is really about, the burger. This burger comes with a beef patty and pulled pork! What!? That is an amazing combination. It also comes with cheese, lettuce, tomato (which I took out) and huge rings of onions. Biting into that burger and getting all that meaty pulled pork and beef was out of this world. The Mosh chef is a genius and I applaud his burger making skills. The wife loved it as well. I will say that the pulled pork does slide to the back of the burger when you get half way so be prepared for that. The fries were also a bit cold when we got them. Otherwise, it is an excellent burger.
There are way more burgers at Mosh for me to try next time. You can also build your own burger if you are feeling creative.
Mosh was a pleasant surprise for the both of us. I absolutely love the place. I love the restaurant itself and all the great food that is available. I will say that it is expensive. When I saw the price of the shakes, it stopped me in my tracks. But the wife really enjoyed her shake and that is all that matters. I will be coming back to Mosh and trying their other burgers, dishes and delicious beer.
So if you are in Mito and are in the mood for a great burger with chocolate beer, why not give Mosh Under the Diners Stand a chance. Who knows, you might see me there, double fisting a burger and a chili cheese dog.
Enjoy!
