Chronic Burger!

There is a food truck that roams around the area of southern Ibaraki. Delivering delicious burgers to events around the Tsuchiura, Ishioka and Kasumigaura area. If you attend an event in those areas and you see a truck painted in blue and white, you have just found the best burgers in that event. That special burger truck is called Chronic Burger.

Chronic Burger

A few weeks ago, Tsuchiura had a cycling event near the JCOM stadium area. I don't cycle because I am horrible at it, but I decided to check it out during lunch time. After walking around the event and looking at the different food trucks and yatais in the area, I spotted a food truck like an old friend in a crowd. Chronic Burger.

I have had Chronic Burger quite a number of times in different locations. They sometimes show up to the illumination event in Tsuchiura's Suigo Park (if you haven't been to this event and love Christmas lights, I highly recommend checking it out.) I have seen them at Ishioka's Hitachi Fudoki no Oka park selling burgers in the playground area. Every time I see them, I get excited because I know I am going to have a good burger.

The Menu

The menu is pretty simple and self explanatory. They have a hamburger, cheeseburger, and onion cheese bacon burger. I have tried their cheeseburger in past events and I have enjoyed it. The cheese is delicious and the meat is fantastic. But that is all the burger really brings so I think 900 yen is a little steep. Even though I say this, the patty really is great. You can really taste the high quality burger making skills in that meat.

I had already had the cheese burger before so that day during the cycling event, I decided to try the onion cheese bacon burger.

Onion Cheese Bacon Burger

This burger is the most expensive burger on the menu. It comes with, you guessed it, cheese, bacon and onion. What surprised me was the onion. It wasn't chopped onion or anything like that. Chronic Burger just straight up cut half of an onion, grilled it and put it in the burger. I was shocked. The cheese still looked amazing as usual and so did the patty. The bacon was not the crispy bacon we Americans love but I'll take it.

After biting into this burger, the taste of the delicious cheese and that amazing patty came into my mouth like a warm lover's embrace, and I was a happy burger guy. But then, out of nowhere, the onion flavor invaded my mouth like an enemy army taking over a delicious burger land. It was really strong. I guess that is what happens when you put half an onion on a burger. A little later though, after my third bite, the onion's commanding flavor died down and went very well with the burger. Be careful though, the onion did start sliding out when I was half way done with the burger. The bacon was a nice little addition. The buns were toasted which is always a plus. But the patty is really the main star of this burger. Chronic Burger has mastered their patty making skills and it shows when you bite into that tasty juicy patty.

After I finished my burger, I left the cycling event feeling a great burger joy that I usually feel after having a good burger. Looking forward to when I will spot that blue and white truck again in the future.

So if you are ever in an event in the southern Ibaraki area and you see a blue and white food truck there, you might want to head on over and try one of Chronic Burger's tasty burgers. Who knows, you might see me there, enjoying my burger while trying to hold that huge piece of onion in it.

Enjoy!
